MUMBAI-THE RECENT TRAGEDY AND ITS AFTERMATH

The recent dastardly terrorist attack at some of the most prominent landmarks of Mumbai has left a trail of dead and injured by the hundreds.

A large number of the casualties could be hotel and hospital staff, innocent bystanders and train commuters. These are the unfortunate poor and middle class citizens who are forgotten after the first flush of condolences and sorrow. They would have left behind families with no substantial means of support and children who would be studying in schools and colleges and for whom life ahead would appear to be bleak.

Ratna Nidhi Charitable Trust with its vast experience in post disaster relief would like to offer a helping hand to such children and youth and assist in their education, upbringing and other needs. What they have lost can never be compensated for but let us at least try and give them a better tomorrow.

Ratna Nidhi Charitable Trust had organized a similar project for orphaned children of the Mumbai Bomb blasts in 2003 in association with Times Foundation and Rajiv Gandhi Foundation. We can be proud in saying that the then school children have now graduated and become responsible family members. A massive pre-implementation survey was conducted to identify the genuine beneficiaries and this is a must for all our activities

Similar projects have also been implemented for children of victims of the subsequent bomb blast and the Mumbai floods. You might also be aware of our projects for the earthquake affected of Gujarat, tsunami victims of South India, Cyclone victims in Myanmar and victims of the May 2008 Bihar floods.

Ratna Nidhi Charitable Trust needs your support. No contribution is too small - the task head is gigantic and each drop will count. The media hype and political speeches would soon be forgotten-it is long term projects like this which would ultimately help in building lives. Let us jointly make a difference !!
